This week we began freeing the trees from the deer fencing. Since the deer haven't bothered the few we freed and hung with Dial soap as an experiment, we took the leap and freed the rest yesterday and today. Whether this is due to the smelly soap or due to the fact that the deer are moving up, we don't know. We have seen deer in the area since freeing the first trees but not very often. So we finally unfenced everything except for the two small (and very vulnerable) fig trees. We hung more soap in strategic places, just in case. The yard looks much better without all of that fencing up.
