Himalayan Row
|
Today, we reset the foot bridges and crossed the creek to free the Himalayan pines. They were the last to be unfenced and they look much happier.

| New Raised Bed |
In the garden, we moved some of the barrels from the center to along the fenceline and built a test bed for the potatoes with those new cinder block corners and redwood. It looks good but the corner blocks make the bed about a foot bigger in both length and width. We could fit two of these new beds in with the table or three with no table. I think we'll just try the one this year to see how we like it. In theory, we will be able to lift an the boards off the end of the bed to make harvesting potatoes easier.

| Testing the new Raised Bed |
We also planted mixed head lettuces in bed number 5 and yanked the old arugula and planted new seeds in bed number 8. Hopefully it will grow quickly and be harvested before it's time to turn that bed over and replant it.
In the back/side yard, Jim moved the last dogwood along the fence line. It was too close to the split rail fence. That row of plants looks great now. I think this year they will thrive. Meanwhile, I planted the flowers on the back deck and they sure are nice. We still need to reconnect their irrigation. Hopefully that will happen soon.

| Chicken Coop Assessment |
Finally, we remeasured and marked the perimeter for the chicken coop and run. We keep waffling between bulding it ourselves and buying a shed/coop and having it delivered. We both really want to build it but have so little free time and the latest pricing on the delivered shed is pretty comparable to what it would cost to build it ourselves.....
