STRANGE SPRING

This has been a strange spring.  Some things are ahead of last year and others way behind.  We did have a warm spell and then a late frost so that explains the lack of fruit on many trees.  We also have some inexplicable behaviour from the fruit trees.  Some are leafing out in an oddly patchy manner.  Half to two thirds of some trees are leafed out and the remaining branches have looked dead for weeks.  Now these remaining branches are begining to leaf out.  Other trees have remained dormant way after the first trees have leafed out (and way after they had leafed out in past years).  These too are finally beginning to leaf out but in a similarly patch manner.
Almond leafing out oddly
Nancy leafing out oddly
Hope (nectarine) very late to leaf out
Paula plum leafing out unevenly
White peach odd leafing issue (and very late)
New sweet potatoes (from Kathie) and sprouts
Onion bulb
Other things are growing better than ever!  Our onions are looking great this year.  We are  not sure if it is the fertilizer, the better soil or just a good year.  Either way, we are thrilled.

Kathie's sweet potato slips are much larger than ours.  She gave us a handful to plant to supplement our puny sprouts.  We got those in the ground today.  the Marrow has sprouted and is looking good as well.
