| Kale and lettuce harvest |
What a nice day. It was a little cooler than it's been and we worked all day in the garden. We turned over beds 10 and 11 to prep them for planting (found lots of grubs in bed 10 and none in bed 11) . Turning over and amending the beds takes a fair bit of time but the soil is getting better as it is mixed more thoroughly and more compost is added each year. Hopefully it will pay off in healthier and more productive plants. We are learning more each year about soil, bugs, feeding and watering .....

| Last year's onion harvest |
Before we turned over bed these last two beds, we had to harvest the remaining onions from last year. There was great variety in the bulb size but they all look good and will be tasty grilled up with dinner.

After the beds are prepped, Jim gets to re connect the irrigation. With Xena's help, he is becoming quite the master of irrigation setup.

While Jim was setting up the irrigation, I harvested another big round of greens. I cut LOTS of Swiss chard as well as qute a bit of Kale (Lacinto and Curly) and Romaine. We will definitely be eating chard tonight and bringing some to town to share!
After all this we got to relax on the deck with friends and treats.
