| Getting topsoil for the barrels |
I had a great weekend with plenty of work in the yard! I got the oak tree staked up. Well, at least the first level. Staking the top portion will be a two person job and we haven't quite figured out the best way to tackle that part. I also fed the cherry trees and started on the weeding tasks. When Jim came home he got me motivated to keep weEding and we got the front and side yard (south side) all weeded and raked. It looks much better. The next day we tackled the ditch on the south side of the driveway and got it all raked out and it looks much better! Then we dumped the trailer and went to pick up some dirt so we could fill the new barrels.
Jim drilling drainage holes (also going much better than last time)

| Bringing another around for drilling and filling |
Having dirt on hands meant we could empty the barrels, drill drainage holes in them all and fill them up. Once we got the holes drilled, we hauled them around to set them in place on rocks for drainage as level as possible.

Next it was time to fill them. We shoveled in the dirt from the trailers and mixed in soil amendment. We REALLY wanted to plant them now but many of the seeds we got said to plant after last frost.... While it is warm and lovely now, we know we are still likely to get more nights of freezing temps in the next several weeks. We are trying to be patient.
