PLANTING POTATOES

Seed Potatoes
Jim bought some seed potatoes a few days ago and cut them to scar.  While I am down in OC visiting mom, he got busy (in the snow no less) prepping our planting bags and planting the potatoes.  So below is his post:
Possesed Potato Planter
Planted 12 Carola (gold potatoes), 14 Red Lasoda and 12 Yukon Gold. The Carola had ½” to 1 ½” growth, the Red’s had ½”-3/4” sprouts and the Yukon’s had very little activity. No directions with the Haxnicks Patio Potato Planter bags (receipt says directions enclosed) so I googled it and it said put a base of 4”-6” and cover wit h4”-6” dirt. I did about 6” each top and bottom. Bags were advertised as heavy duty handles but first one I picked up ripped off. The label on the bags  said 3-5 plants per bag, I did 6-7, also said plant in intervals of around 6 weeks to spread out your harvest. Oh well, we’ll have to see how this goes.

Prepping the potato bags
It was spitting snow and supposed to get cold so these babies will start there life in the garage. Good thing I listened to Maggie and moved the geraniums in!

Meanwhile... in Orange County... can't bear not gardening so I put together an indoor herb garden for mom!
