NOT MUCH ACTION - OTHER THAN THE DEER!

So it has been cold and windy.  The colors are mostly done here and the winds blew away most of the leaves, though there are still some in the orchard and on the aspens.    We had a really windy couple of days and the covers on beds 1 and 2 kept blowing open.  The beds look pretty dry... we'll have to double check them tomorrow and it might be time to water.

The ditch is starting to get ice along the edges on the grass and leaves which are just at the very edges.  Mostly it still melts each day.

The deer have been incredibly pushy!  They keep yanking the Johnny jump ups from the front flower pots by the front door.  They were actually on the deck the other night!  This morning we awoke to see that with the flowers all gone, they moved up and began grazing on the bottom limbs of the yew trees in those front pots.  That is not acceptable.  I wanted to set snap traps to scare them away, but Jim opted for wrapping the yews in chicken wire.  Clearly he is much nicer than I am.

Tonight we are eating the last of the basil on pizza made with some of our ripening heirloom tomatoes.  Black from Tua pizza is yummy!
