Fire is an issue near and dear to all of us in California. In February of 2015 the eastern sierra Round Fire came within a 100m of our home and garden. While we were fortunate that our home was untouched, many of our friends and neighbors were not. Shockingly, 40 structures (mostly homes) were lost the neighboring communities of Swall Meadows and Paradise. It was only due to the valiant efforts of several local fire departments (including our very own Paradise Fire Department), and the whims of the changing winds that the devastation was not even more widespread.
We are grateful to our firefighters every single day. Our local fire department is hosting a garden tour fundraiser on June 4th. There will be several local gardens open for visiting. Please support our local fire department, purchase a ticket, and come tour local gardens, including Maggie's Farm. This is a great opportunity to visit with like minded folks while supporting a very worthy cause!
