VARMINTS!!

Flowers on the Back Deck
This morning I saw MORE broken branches on the yellow peach tree and then noticed that we were down to only about 5 peaches on this tree which was previously laden with fruit!  It occurred to me that it was probably raccoons climbing the tree at night and breaking branches and eating fruit.  I googled this and found lots of hits on raccoons and squirrels eating peaches.  When we came home from work this evening I discovered there were absolutely no peaches left on this tree so that makes me think it's squirrels instead of (or in addition to) raccoons.

We will have to wrap the trunks of a few of the trees to see if that helps.  I staked up another chili pepper plant today and filled in the gaps in the wheelbarrow garden.  Things are starting to shape up.  Unfortunately,  the rains of the last two days have encouraged a lot of weeds to grow so I know what we'll be doing this weekend!

Last weekend I finally planted the flower pots on the back deck railing.  I'd been putting this off because I couldn't find any decent looking flowers for a reasonable price.  I'd just about decided I wasn't going to do this this year because we hardly ever use the back deck.  Then I found some flowers locally for a good price.  I'm so glad I planted these!  We see and enjoy them from several rooms in the house.  I forgot what a difference having flowers out there makes!
