THE BABIES

Rufous Hummingbird waiting for me to refill the feeder

The hummingbirds were super active this morning and very clear about the need for me to make another batch of food and refill the feeders.  After I pulled the feeders to wash them, the birds kept swooping in and hovering where they used to be looking fairly perplexed and upset.

Harglow Apricot
Jim went to Chalfant Big Trees last weekend and was excited to find the two fruit trees we've been wanting.  Another apricot (this one is a Harglow) and an Italian Plum.
Italian Plum
The first was a bare root and the second a good sized potted tree.  Today, being my first day off after a stretch of eight work days I had some catching up to do.  I did some hand watering and planted both of these trees.  They look great!
Rhubarb Flower
The rhubarb plants bolted!  I didn't even know they could flower!  It turns out the alien looking bits turned into flowers.  After reading a bit about rhubarb, I cut the flowers and brought them inside.
I also did some weeding and tidying up in the yard.  It has been very windy the past couple of days so there are new additions to the existing debris waiting to be raked and picked up.  Hope to get more work done tomorrow but have to run into Mammoth and Bishop tomorrow morning!
The new babies in Wilma on their way home!
