This morning we found hornworm number 2 on the chile peppers. Odd how they are totally invisible until you see them. Then they are so large and obvious, you can't imagine how you could miss them!

| Too bad we don't have chickens yet... this would be a tasty morsel for them! |

| On his way out! |
Today was a day to spray the chiles and chard with BT and the veggies with Neem. The orchard also got sprayed with Neem.
I have to confess, we finally broke down and use glyphosate on the polars and locusts which keep coming back. I tried so hard NOT to use any toxins on the property but these trees are exhibiting the starfish effect after being removed and ground! Dustin (the local ag guy and master gardener) assured us this is the way to go and poses no risk.... it travels only on green matter and will not enter our water or have secondary or tertiary effects.
Today we also planted our Red Oak!!! And finally planted the third lilac and the barberry which have been suffering in their pots in the front entry garden bed. I also transplanted the little red twig dogwood which was looking too crowded. Time for more flowers in this bed.
